Departmental Aims and Objectives
It is our aim to support pupils who require additional help
either through extraction tutorials or by providing co-op teacher
support to subject classes who bid for this time.
In S3 – S6 tutorial support is normally only offered to pupils
who have a recognised or suspected specific learning difficulty.
This type of tutorial support is for the entire year and is
re-examined at the end of the year to see whether or not it
should continue. Pupils use tutorials to prepare for classes
in Mainstream and revise for upcoming tests and major assignments.
In addition, pupils are given additional help with gaps in their
working knowledge of a subject. Pupils also get the chance to
work closely with their Key Teacher and prepare for exams by
practising under exam conditions with any proposed concessions
to ensure that these are appropriate for the pupil.
We aim to be fully inclusive and staff liaise closely with
Mainstream colleagues about strategies, which should help pupils
with a wide range of difficulties and barriers to learning.
