Courses
Standard Grade Computing Studies: The emphasis
is upon how to solve real and interesting problems with word
processing, spreadsheets and databases. Programming (using Visual
Basic) is an important practical part of the course. Pupils
also spend time gaining essential knowledge about Computer Systems,
Networks, automation and how applications are used commercially.
Intermediate 2 Computing: The pupils study
Software Development, Computer Systems and Multimedia Technology..
Higher Level Computing: Pupils receive an
in-depth look at computer systems and spend more time developing
problem-solving, logical and creative skills in Software Development.
The department has chosen Multi-media Technology as the third
unit.
Advanced Higher Computing: This is far more
practical than the Higher Grade as pupils continue their study
of Software Development and Computer Systems. The project (counting
40% towards the final grade) requires them to develop their
own software.
Intermediate 2 Information Systems: Pupils
study the 2 Core Units of Using Information & Database Systems,
followed by our optional unit, Applied Multimedia. Go
